BUDGET COMMITTEE
JUNE 18, 2014
Members present: Mike Hogan, Rob Gauthier, Joan Karpf, and Bonnie Moroney
Joan voted to accept the minutes from the May 29th meeting and Rob second and it passed.
Mike said that he had been looking over the current budget and was wondering about the Election and Registration part as they are already at 50% of their budget and there are 2 more elections this year. He said that he would like to see if Ben could come to the next meeting to go over this.

The notice that had been received about using bio-mass was discussed and Joan made a motion for the select board to please look into the use of this as a savings on the heating fuel issue. Mike second and it passed. Bonnie said she would take the information to the select board.

Mike asked to see if Greg would come to the next meeting to discuss the fact that he should be checking out pricing now for the locking in of winter heating fuel. Bonnie said she would ask him to come.

Joan asked about the audit line and that most of it had been used. Bonnie said that the auditors had mostly just completed collecting all the information that they needed and that that is why most of the money had been used. It is a contract price and that is what the contract is. Joan asked if the audit was done, and Bonnie said no. She then asked when it would be complete and if the budget committee could look at it. Bonnie said she was not sure of when it would be completed, and that she didn’t see any reason why the budget committee could not look at it.

Mike said that back of the agenda had a list of the dept. that would be discussed and when and that the next meeting would involve the Police Dept. and so please take some time and see what questions or things you see that need to be addressed.
Joan said she had been checking and finds the wide range of pay for the Treasurer around the state. She said that the RSA states what the position is supposed to do so why would there be so much difference. Bonnie said that RSA are not laws they are guidelines and the towns may have several people doing certain parts of the job and not all of it, and other towns might have them doing more. And that she needed to contact the towns and find out what they require of their Treasure, if that is what she wants to know, as there is no way for the us to know.
The list for July and Aug. meetings for reviews are:
Mike went over the list of all the Committees and Departments that are on the list for July and Aug.
Bonnie said that from the last meeting she had asked Maryclare to please get some information about other insurance for Health Care and our employees. Bonnie said that she had and that she would ask the select board to look over Health Care options as it had been several years since they had done so.

Joan motioned to adjourn at 7:30PM and Rob second it was passed. Next Meeting will be July 16th.
