Minutes of 11/12/2014 DRAFT

December 2nd, 2014

Selectman’s Meeting
November 12, 2014
Meeting called to order by Chairman Bonnie Moroney
Members present: Bonnie Moroney, Paul Bussiere, Dave Scalley
Guest: Greg Hogan
Reason for the meeting was to go over the skim coating of Riverside Road, by Foster’s Crossroads.
The board had met with Greg in the past about this skim coat and he had given the board an amount of approximate $3,500.00 but after looking at the road Greg asked the board to meet with him and discuss that maybe there should be a thicker amount put on there, as the skim would more than likely rip back up in a short time and the town would have to do this again in a year or so.
Dave said that he didn’t feel that a skim coat would hold up as a skim coat is only about ½ inch thick and the amount of traffic in and out of that road would have it torn up quickly.
The board asked Greg if he had gotten a price for a thicker amount and he said he had and he and Dave had met with Ed Stanley from Central Asphalt Paving Co. Stanley had quoted him $7,000.00 for a full 1 inch top coat. He said that the reason he had asked us to meet about this is the company would be closing down for the winter in the next week and he really wanted to get this done.
The board said that as they had already approved the skim coat that they felt it should be done that way but that if when it was done and Greg felt that it would not be enough he could ask Ed Stanley if they could increase it to the thicker amount then and put the other amount under another contract.
Dave motioned to allow Greg to make this decision and Paul 2nd and it was passed.
Paul motioned to adjourn at 4:30PM and Dave second and it was passed.
